The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has released a public notice mandating that two-way radio users must migrate to narrowband technology by January 1, 2013.

We have found many companies are trying to "scam" people into buying a complete new radio system, when in fact many of your existing radios may just be re-programmed to work on the new channels at a significantly reduced cost!

What this means to you:

• As of January 1, 2011, the FCC stopped accepting new applications for wideband 25 kHz licenses.
  Therefore, please review all of your FCC licenses to make certain that you are narrowband compliant. This will be enforced...and will be a new LARGE money maker for the govt....
• As of January 1, 2013, all VHF and UHF two-way radio equipment must operate in narrowband 12.5 kHz mode.
• Licensees not operating at 12.5 kHz after January 1, 2013, will be "in violation of the Commission's rules" and
  "may be subject to enforcement action, including admonishments, monetary forfeitures, and/or license revocation, as appropriate"

 Therefore, we advise that you inventory your Jobcom two-way radio equipment and decide which equipment simply needs to be re-programmed and which equipment must be replaced.
